a glimpse into melanie’s journey to 200 classes!
Why do you prioritize your yoga practice?
When I’m practicing regularly I experience more clarity in my day to day. Without it there’s a pretty big difference, so it’s important for me to make sure I’m prioritizing it!
How has yoga helped you physically?
I’ve had a lot of chronic pain in my knees, hips, and lower back, and since developing a regular practice that pain has been reduced to almost nothing. Consistency is key though!
How has yoga helped you mentally/emotionally?
Yoga has been such an important tool for me when life gets hard. Whenever I feel anxious, sad, or angry, making sure I get to practice always improves where I’m at emotionally/mentally. It might not fix everything, but it certainly has never made my situation worse.
I love yoga because it’s one of the few methods I can use to get out of my head and back into my body.
Do you have any favorite poses?
Low Lunge into Half Splits always feels great, and I also love the playfulness of Wild Camel.
How has your yoga practice changed over time?
I’m less rigid about how my poses “need” to look. These days I’m looking for how I can turn my practice into a moving meditation.
What’s one thing you’re excited about for 2024?
Letting go of thinking patterns that no longer serve me.
What’s one thing you’re proud of?
Hitting the 200 hrs of practicing at Yoga Underground!!
We love you, Mel! And we are so proud of you. 200 classes is a big freaking deal! Thank you for being part of our yoga family :)
